  • Condition: Very good for their age; estimate they date from 1960s. Kept in darkened doll room, in SMOKE FREE, PET FREE home. No odor. ORIGINAL hair. ORIGINAL costumes, veils, pants, shoes, jewelry. Dolls have original accessories. ORIGINAL trim, beads, necklaces and bracelets. Hand painted faces, fabric heads and bodies, arms, hands and feet in shoes. Round wood platform bases or stands. Man's pant leg has stain from age. Old gold hair ornaments, beaded headbands, earrings, bracelets, costume adornments, and stick pin.

    Description

    Offered here are a pair of AUTHENTIC HANDMADE dolls from INDIA.This could well be a wedding couple with a relative, i.e, a mother or aunt or sister.... These  dolls stand just under 12 inches tall on their wood stands. They are attached to these stands for display. One stand has a hand printed word,  "Jodhapuri",  on its base -- with a paper tag with "Indian Handicraft" typed on it. I surmise it is the town or city where the doll was made. The other two doll bases do not have tags or writing on them. The dolls faces and style are strikingly similar so I think they may well have been made at the same time in the same general area.
    Each doll is dressed in its original costume, with veils or turban, with their original jewelry and accessories. These dolls have painted fabric faces, with exotic eyes, lashes and lovely mouths. The man doll has a painted mustache.
    These dolls have fabric bodies and beautiful, striking, hand painted faces. THey have long painted lashes and big eyes, and lovely lips. They have handmade fabric arms, hands and sewn fingers and feet in shoes.
    Both women dolls have beautiful shapely bosoms and are fashioned in feminine poses, their arms and heads held in striking poses. The long veils can be unpinned or pinned around their bodies. Both women dolls' costumes feature gold trim and old gold trim accents for bracelets. The wigs on all three of these dolls is black and textured.
    These dolls have been kept in a  darkened doll room, have no odor, and have been in my SMOKE FREE and PET FREE home since I acquired them. They have never been played with.
